Anthony Joshua Reportedly Lost His Personal Trainer and Conditioning Coach in Fatal Nigeria Car Crash
New details have emerged in the tragic Nigeria car crash involving Anthony Joshua, confirming that the two people who lost their lives were not strangers but trusted members of his inner circle.
Multiple outlets have identified the victims as Sina, Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, and Latz, his longtime personal trainer. Both men were close friends of the heavyweight star and part of his traveling team while he was in Nigeria. Video circulating online shows the two coaches together just hours before the fatal accident, adding another layer of heartbreak to an already devastating situation.

The crash occurred on Monday morning on a highway in Ogun State. According to Ogun State Police Commissioner Lanre Ogunlowo, a tire burst caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which then crashed into a stationary car. Joshua was seated in the back of the vehicle and survived with what have been described as minor injuries. Sina and Latz, who were seated closer to the front, were pronounced dead at the scene.
An eyewitness told Nigerian outlet Punch that two vehicles from Joshua’s party were traveling together, with his security team in a car behind them. The impact was severe, and emergency responders arrived shortly after, but there was nothing that could be done to save the two men.
Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, addressed the situation cautiously, saying, “We are trying to contact Anthony, and in the meantime, we don’t want to speculate on how he is, but thankfully, he appears OK from what I have seen in the images. We are awaiting more information on what has happened and will update in due course.”
The tragedy comes less than two weeks after Joshua’s December 19 victory over Jake Paul in Miami, a high-profile fight that marked a major moment in his career resurgence. Paul spoke out after the crash, sending his well-wishes to Joshua and prayers to the victims.

Joshua was visiting Nigeria, where both of his parents are from, at the time of the crash.
