Jenny Slate Slams ‘It Ends With Us’ Costar Justin Baldoni as a ‘Clown’ and an ‘Intense Narcissist’ in Texts
It Ends With Us star Jenny Slate took aim at Justin Baldoni in newly unsealed text messages as the actor prepares to go to trial with Blake Lively.
“Hey guys- i don’t want to do anything with Justin, i don’t want to talk about him, like … nothing,” Slate, 43, wrote in a text message sent to her team in June 2023, per documents obtained by Us Weekly. The actress was seemingly referencing the promo the cast was doing for the film prior to its release the following August.
“I’m just not sure how visible I want to be in this campaign, and looking over this list, I’m wondering if actually we SHOULD wait a beat. What is Blake going to do?” Slate continued, then calling Baldoni’s character in question and insinuating that he portrays himself differently in public than he is behind closed doors.
“Justin is truly a false ally and I’m unwilling to do anything that promotes the 2 image that he’s crafting as a ‘male feminist’ … like … honestly i have no words to describe what a fraud he is,” Slate — who portrayed Allysa, the sister of Baldoni’s character in the film — alleged. “I honestly have never ever encountered anything like this dude.”
“He’s the biggest clown and the most intense narcissist,” wrote Slate.
Slate reflected on her filming experience, describing it as “a really gross and disturbing shoot,” adding, “I’m one of many who feel [this] way.” According to the actress, both she and Lively, 38, “complained directly” to the studio.
The docs also included a transcript of her deposition from September 26, during which she discussed another alleged incident on set.
“He mentioned that [Lively] looked, I can’t remember the order of it, but sexy and then hot, or hot and then sexy,” Slate claimed. “And I remember her saying something like, ‘That’s not what I’m going for.’ And then he tried another modifier, either hot or sexy, again I forget the order, and I remember her saying something like, ‘Not that either.’”

Slate said she made a remark to Baldoni, 41, at the time that indicated his alleged comment was unprofessional. “I was recently talking to a friend about how comments about actors’ bodies and their wardrobes, and again this is paraphrasing, but it ranged from irrelevant or unnecessary to, like, inappropriate and distracting,” she claimed.
Us Weekly has reached out to Baldoni’s legal team for comment.
Baldoni and Lively have been embroiled in a legal dispute since December 2024, when Lively sued Baldoni and his production company Wayfarer Studios in a federal court after filing a civil complaint against him.
