Is Idaho Killer Bryan Kohberger Being Moved to an Out-of-State Prison? What We Know (Exclusive)
Confessed killer Bryan Kohberger hasn’t had the easiest of times behind bars.
Since receiving his four life sentences for the murders of four University of Idaho students in July 2025, Kohberger has filed a number of complaints with prison administrators. The Pennsylvania man has expressed issues with everything from the quality of the prison food to the way his fellow inmates treat him.
In January 2026, several reports surfaced suggesting Idaho prison officials were eager to get rid of Kohberger, with “aggressive” negotiations ongoing between a handful of out-of-state prisons who might be willing to assume responsibility for the mass killer.
So, is Kohberger being moved? Could he end up at a prison in your state? Here’s what Us Weekly knows.

Where Is Bryan Kohberger Now?
Kohberger is a resident at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution located inside the Idaho State Correctional Complex in Kuna, Idaho.
This is where he will likely remain for the rest of his natural life.
Kohberger lives with some of the most dangerous and reviled criminals in Idaho’s recent history.
Us previously reported that Kohberger has not been happy with his current living situation and has complained about other inmates taunting him and making threats against his life.
What’s Bryan Kohberger Been Complaining About in Prison?
Us has reported that Kohberger, a devout vegan, filed a complaint at the prison accusing the staff of depriving him of food. “I have on several occasions not received all items of food on my tray,” Kohberger wrote in a complaint obtained by People.
The convict also alleged in his complaint that he did not receive any replacements when raising the issue.
Kohberger has also complained about the quality of the fruit he received in prison — in particular, the bananas
