Tokyo Jetz Left the Rap Game and Came Back With a Wedding That Stole the Spotlight
Tokyo Jetz stepped into a new chapter of her life this weekend, officially tying the knot with NFL star Shaquill Griffin in a lavish Texas ceremony.
Fresh off his Super Bowl win earlier this year, Griffin married Shauntrell Pender on May 3 in Tomball, Texas, where 181 guests arrived dressed in all black for a bold black, red, and gold-themed celebration. The couple made sure their children were part of the moment, with their son Amir acting as “ring security” and their daughter Amor serving as flower girl.
“For me, this wedding is like a fairy tale. It’s odd that neither one of us envisioned this when we first met and things just fell into place,” Pender said. “For Shaquill, the wedding was lifesaving. He sees things so much differently now that we’re here.”
Originally planning a destination wedding, the couple ultimately chose Texas, a place that holds deeper meaning for their relationship. “It’s more than just a place to us, it’s home,” she shared, pointing to the life they’ve built and the foundation they continue to grow together.
The ceremony leaned into both elegance and emotion. Griffin walked down a rose-lined aisle as live music filled the space, while the couple exchanged handwritten vows to “freely express [themselves] wholeheartedly.” Inside the reception, guests were treated to a candlelit dinner, Caribbean-inspired dishes, and a dramatic seven-tier wedding cake.
“For me, marriage means love, understanding, infinite gratitude and partnership,” Pender added.
The night carried on with performances, a fog-filled first dance, and a packed dance floor. As Pender put it, “When we started planning, we didn’t just see a wedding, we saw a celebration of our love.”
