Britney Spears’ DUI Charge Vanishes After Plea Deal as Strict Conditions Kick In

Pop star Britney Spears resolved her recent legal case on Monday after reaching an agreement that spares her a DUI conviction but places her under strict court supervision.

According to court proceedings in Ventura County, the misdemeanor DUI charge initially filed against Spears was reduced to a lesser offense of “wet reckless” as part of a negotiated plea deal with prosecutors. The resolution allows Spears to avoid a formal DUI conviction, though it carries significant conditions.

Under the agreement, Spears will serve 12 months of probation and must comply with several restrictions, including refraining from possessing drugs without a valid prescription. Any violation during this probationary period could result in further legal consequences, including possible jail time.

Her attorney, Michael Goldstein, addressed the outcome in a statement, saying, “Through her plea today, Britney has accepted responsibility for her conduct. She has taken significant steps to implement positive change which is clearly reflected in the Ventura County District Attorney’s decision to reduce the charge in this case and dismiss the DUI. Britney appreciates this discretion and is also grateful for the outpouring of support she has received.”

Spears did not appear in court for the hearing, which took place Monday morning, and was represented by legal counsel. The plea agreement also requires her to complete a DUI education program and pay mandated fines and fees.

The charge stemmed from a March arrest, followed by a period in rehabilitation. Authorities had previously alleged that Spears was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
