In tonight’s The Rookie episode, the whole station knew about Tim’s proposal. It was just Lucy who didn’t know. It was bound to get out so Detective Lopez warned Tim to finally pull the trigger.

He got the ring. He needed to propose and fast. Only Tim was still coming up with the ideas. He also wanted to focus on the Heath Everett.

The notorious war criminal was facing pages of charges and it was up to his legal team to get him off. This same team was warned in advance that Everett trying to escape would result in collusion charges for them. And so his newest lawyer tried to get around that.

Malcolm Walsh was known as the man that got the charges against a serial killer dropped. He was very much a hot commodity by the dark web bosses. They all wanted him as their lawyer. Everett hired him knowing he was smart and he used that intelligence against the LAPD. He approached Wes with an offer.

He asked Wes to join the legal team to get Everett off from the charges related to Sergeant Tim Brandford. Tim was a friend. They often worked together. Wes also wasn’t there when the legal team got threaten with the collusion charge. Walsh therefore set Wes up.

The worst part was that Wes fell for it. He never would’ve done so if his private practice had been going well. He needed a big time client and he sadly agreed to help get one charge dropped. He approached Tim. He asked that the charges connected to trying to bribe a police officer get dropped.

There was no bodycam footage. Tim was claiming that Everett turned it off. Wes said that unless his bodycam was dusted for fingerprints that it couldn’t be proved. He was going to get the charges dropped one way or another. He ended up losing his friendship with Tim because of it.

He pushed Tim on the wrong day. Tim was about to propose. He was about to lose his Watch Commander position. He also had took Lucy’s place in the convoy that was transferring Everett. Tim was grumpy on his best days, but this day seemed to be going downhill fast.

He knew that when Everett offered to pay him ten million dollars that he meant it. He probably offered people that same amount and so there were going to be people trying to free him. They’ve already brought down a federal plane. What’s the convoy to them.

The convoy was of LAPD and FBI joint task forced to move Everett. Everett was smart. He used it to get off. He was abducted by a helicopter in middle of a shootout on the bridge. The cops escorting him were stuck returning fire and all the while Everett escaped. There was a manhunt for him.

The cops were stretched to the max. Lucy left Miles in charge of what happened at the station as she doing the paperwork of Everett’s escape. They needed crime scene to cordoned off. Which is a problem because it’s a busy highway.

Only leaving Miles in charge was also a no no. Somehow a guy got a gun in there and began firing. Lucy shot him through a window. She wanted to know how Miles missed the gun. Miles was at the end of his six month extension. He was supposed to have graduated from the program and it seems everyone forgot.

Miles hopes they hadn’t changed their minds about him. He was worried about bounced from the program. He should take comfort in not being alone with his mistakes today. Tim also made a mistake. He put the proposal ring in his pocket that he ended up losing when they were attacked on the bridge.

Miles was later told that he has three more weeks as a rookie. It was good news. Even further good news was that they caught Everett. He was hiding out in a dystopian ship. LAPD dressed up like Navy Seals to do it. Nolan’s wife Bailey did his makeup. It was a sweet bonding moment before Nolan jumped into the water.

He was rescued before he could drown. He was deemed alright. They caught their prey. It all worked out. Miles was also cleared in the gun inside the detainee room. And there was good moment.

Nolan and Bailey helped Dash realize he didn’t want to go to college right now. He wanted to live out his documentary street style and become an indie film god.

And Tim proposed to Lucy on the beach. He had the ring then lost it then found it again so he figured he might as well propose fast. Luckily, she said yes before the both of them were drugged by Everett’s people in retaliation.

THE END!
